His inventory included nine original Moe Szyslak production drawings, hand-drawn by layout artist Istvan Majoros on 12-field animation bond. Single-piece originals, mid-era Simpsons, the kind of pieces that change hands every week on Worthpoint and eBay.
The kind, in other words, that typically sell for around fifty dollars.
To establish a credible baseline, we queried our internal comparable-sales database (sourced from Worthpoint historical sold listings) for original single-piece Moe Szyslak production drawings. We excluded multi-piece lots, signed editions, model sheets, storyboards, and merchandise. Nine listings remained that match Nico's pieces in type, character, and era.
Worth noting: Nico considers this particular set his low-grade inventory. Everyday pieces, not premium scene examples. Better scenes, finer detail, and stronger condition routinely sell for considerably more on the open market. We chose this set deliberately, to test what authentication does for the floor of the market, not the ceiling.

Buyers of original animation art are not paying fifty dollars for a drawing. They are paying fifty dollars for uncertainty, discounting their offer to compensate for the risk that the piece is not what the seller says it is.
Independent authentication removes that discount. The drawing is the same. The seller's claim is the same. What changes is that the buyer no longer has to take the seller's word for it. They can verify the chain of custody themselves before they buy, and they reward that certainty with a price that reflects the item itself, not the doubt around it.
Both sides come away with what they wanted: the seller, a fair price for an asset that was genuinely worth more than the open market could express; the buyer, certainty.
A buyer who paid $100 for one of these drawings did not pay a $50 premium for the same piece sold elsewhere. The two products are not the same.
The open-market piece at $50 carries no verification. Buyers cannot prove provenance, cannot insure with confidence, and assume all the risk that the drawing is what the seller claims. Some of those listings are misattributed, damaged in ways the photo does not show, or outright fakes. The $50 reflects that risk.
The authenticated piece at $100 carries an expert opinion signed by Nico Collin, tamper-evident sealing, evidence photography, condition documentation, and a permanent blockchain record that survives Rinkya. The buyer can resell, insure, and pass the piece down with that paper trail intact.
What the seller experiences as a premium, the buyer receives as a different product. Both are accurate.
The buyer of these nine drawings had previously purchased four undocumented pieces from Nico. After seeing what a Rinkya record actually contained, the evidence photos, the chain of custody, the blockchain anchor, and the expert opinion, he insisted on documentation for every subsequent purchase. The relationship has now closed at twenty-two drawings.
The price difference got our attention. The buyer's insistence got Nico's.
